top row racing media onboard camera program faq
-
Drivers interested in using a Top Row Racing Media onboard camera can message us on email (see button to left) or Facebook Messenger to request a camera for an upcoming event. We bring an average of 17 onboard cameras to each event, but for specialized events such as the Kalamazoo Klash, we convert a few more of our production cameras over to onboard cameras for maximum availability.
-
Currently, Top Row Racing Media does not offer seasonal rentals for our onboard cameras. Our cameras are free to use, and we bring them with us to each event. There are drivers who have had a camera for almost every event each season, but we collect the camera each night.
-
On special occasions, with consideration for upcoming events on our schedule in a case-by-case determination, Top Row Racing Media has allowed for a driver, or drivers, to borrow a camera for a weekend. This has typically been done if we have a weekend where our coverage is at a Night of Destruction which we take few of our cameras to as a result of the high risk of damage that could take place.
-
In total, we have 26 GoPro cameras with 17 assigned as onboard cameras. For Kalamazoo, four cameras are assigned to cover the track surface at various points around the speedway, one camera is use for Victory Lane, one camera is assigned to the Pace Car, and two are assigned with Kalamazoo Track Services. Two are reserved for the next track on our schedule for track surface coverage.
For specialized events where Top Row Racing Media does not record a full program, we use all 26 cameras as onboard cameras. We have 26 small mounts for Karts/Wedges/Quarter-Midgets/600s, and we have 26 large mounts for traditional roll cages like you would find in a race car. With our insert removed, these can also be used on most Semi-Truck roll cages.

All Top Row Racing Media onboard camera footage can be found on our free Top Row Racing Media YouTube Channel. They are individually uploaded with the driver’s car as the cover photo. Small clips are loaded at various points throughout the season as well as full replays on Facebook typically related to an upcoming event, big win, or POVs.
Top Row Racing Media does not share raw footage.

Please contact Top Row Racing Media to see how we might be able to help! For the Short Track Nationals, we worked with Vores Compact Touring Series where a majority of their drivers had onboard cameras. We have also done this with the Kalamazoo Mini Wedges.
