Race Day Coverage
-
For a typical Race Day at a partner track, we provide access to our 26 GoPro camerss for drivers to use for free. Drivers can sign-up or request on site. Day of requests may not always be able to be accommodated.
We mount the cameras for the driver, and we have an assistant who helps turn them on during the event and collects them after a driver finishes their race. Typically, up to 17 cameras are allocated for onboards with a set number set aside for production purposes (Pace Car view, Safety Team, and track view cameras).
While they help in the pit area, we are on the roof or in the grandstand to record the full race program. During the recording, as cautions or breaks in the action take place, we will post short clips to highlight key moments, race updates, and race winners. These clips are typically 90 seconds or less with most falling below one minute.
Prior to the start of the races, we will take time between camera mounting to take hot lap and qualifying photos to post onto Facebook to promote drivers who are at the track.
For many events, we have one to two photographers who do race event photos while we video record the races.
-
Top Row Racing Media, with permission from track owners or promoters, has received approval in the past to record races while Racing America, Pit Row TV, and Dirt Vision provided live-stream coverage.
However, our multiple layers of coverage also means we are very flexible. For streamed events, such as the Small Car Nationals at Slinger and The Rumble in Fort Wayne Indoor Racing, we use most, if not all, of our cameras for onboard views. We then take the opportunity to do more pit side content as well as ground level race highlights. For this set-up, we do not record full races.
We adjust based on the structure of the event and still have a high reach through Facebook during our Race Day coverage.
-
Top Row Racing Media does not currently provide streaming coverage. We do not have plans in the immediate future to offer streaming as we focus on short clips to provide race updates with full program access a few days after the event.
-
Top Row Racing Media covers short track racing events primarily in Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana.
However, we have also covered events in Wisconsin and Northeast Ohio. We are willing to travel as our schedule allows.
We have also covered non-traditional race events such as Demolition Derbies, Lawn Mower Racing, and Night of Destruction events.
Our schedule fills up fast, and we currently have only one videographer who records full programs.
-
We do not charge drivers for the use of our GoPro cameras. We strongly believe in providing the access to drivers, and we have witnessed firsthand drivers who were a little short on money during a race week—barely enough to afford fuel or tires at the track. Money is tight for many, and this is one way we can provide drivers with a tool to use, create content, and support short track racing.
We do not charge or set a fee for race tracks. Most race tracks provide a Media Pit Pass for entry to cover their event. Some tracks have paid us for our coverage which certainly helps with expenses. However, we do not have a requirement for pay.
-
Throughout the race event, we post short clips of the action and photos prior to the start of the races (hot laps, qualifying) or as cars line-up in the make ready shoot on Facebook.
Full race programs and full onboard camera footage can be found on our Top Row Racing Media YouTube Channel which is available for free 24/7.
We do post from time to time on Instagram, and we recently restarted our TikTok page.

Currently, we are scheduled to be at our home tracks, the Kalamazoo Speedway and New Paris Speedway, for a majority of the season.
We have select events scheduled for the Corrigan Oil Speedway, Hartford Speedway, Russell’s M-40 Speedway, and the Indianapolis Speedrome.
We plan to attend most Kalamazoo Mini Wedge races, too.

Top Row Racing Media will always consider new tracks and new events!
Our schedule fills quickly, especially with our commitment to Kalamazoo Speedway and New Paris Speedway, so we will do our best to accommodate new events.
Since our start, we have created new partnerships every season.
