Sean Sprague

𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩

Sean Sprague calls this part of his career "semi-retirement," but the former full-time announcer now in his 19th year is planning to take on perhaps one of his biggest challenges.

For many race fans across central Michigan at tracks like Corrigan Oil/Spartan, Springport, and Auto City, they will recognize Sprague's voice as he announced during the regular season, and at times, for visiting traveling groups. For 2023 and 2024, Sprague spent both seasons as The Voice of the Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway. From memorable moments to first victories, Sprague was one of the first faces drivers saw in Victory Lane. In many cases, Sprague also took the time to get to know the drivers as he routinely visited them in the pit area while he collected background information to develop a driver profile he shared with fans.

In 2025, Sprague announced that he would no longer be at Corrigan Oil as their full-time announcer, and he also stepped aside from his role at Auto City. As he enters his "semi-retirement" phase, Sprague instead plans to focus on one thing--the Tri-State Sprints.

Now in their third season, the Tri-State Sprints built an impressive schedule which will take them around the Midwest and over into Canada. Sprague will help tell their story on the mic, but behind the scenes he is the series manager and helps form their social media presence too as they look to build their following and expand their footprint.

While the decision for Sprague to step back from full-time announcing was difficult, he knew it was time to turn his focus after so many years on the mic. Additionally, the challenge to take on a managing role with Tri-State Sprints and help the series grow was too good to pass up. Under the leadership of Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame driver John Boy Hotchkiss, Sprague joins a team eager to get to work and put on a show for fans across the region.

As Sprague takes steps to wind down his career, he hasn't taken the checkered flag yet. If anything, he's only getting started as he takes on a new adventure.
