March Motor Madness Tournament: MCR Dwarf Cars Back In Finals
Death. Taxes. MCR Dwarf Cars.
The Midwest Classic Racers Dwarf Cars have made it to the final round of the tournament for the second straight year after they qualified for the Final 4 for the third straight time with their victory over the Street Stocks. In the first year, they entered as the #1 seed and faced off against the Wild Card qualifier, the Mini Wedges, in the Final 4 where they fell 104-50. Last year, the Dwarf Cars took on the 23rd seed Quarter Midgets in the championship match. Now, they’ll face the Mini Wedges again—their toughest opponent to date as the Mini Wedges needed almost 200 votes to advance over the Quarter Midgets in Monday’s Final 4.
In 2023, the MCR Dwarf Cars perfected the voting system—then Chicago style voting—and dominated the tournament until they ran into the Mini Wedges. The Mini Wedge supporters took notes, and they were able to deploy the same technique as they used what the MCR Dwarf Cars perfected against them. The Mini Wedges were crowned the 2023 March Motor Madness Tournament Champions after the close battle with the Front Wheel Drives in the championship match.
The 2025 tournament was a coming out party for the Quarter Midgets. In the expanded field which saw 24 classes qualify, the Quarter Midgets slipped into the field as the 23rd seed, and their first triumph came against the #2 seeded Night of Destruction. From there, the Quarter Midgets rode the momentum and topped the #7 seeded MCR Dwarf Cars 130-74 in the championship battle.
The number one seed has never won the tournament championship, but this is the first time in three tournaments that the two classes left standing claimed a winter tournament. The MCR Dwarf Cars won the first winter tournament of the season, “The Jingle Bells” Battle of the Classes while the Mini Wedges were victorious in “The Winter’s Chill” Battle of the Classes. Both classes earned first round byes in the expanded field which saw 26 classes qualify, and unlike the College Football Playoffs, all but one classes with a first round bye advanced to the next round.
The MCR Dwarf Cars have outscored their opponents 139-49 through three rounds. In their three rounds, the Mini Wedges have outscored their opponents 363-213. Before the Final 4, the Mini Wedges had earned 168 votes to their opponent’s 28 votes. Should the MCR Dwarf Cars find themselves as the 2026 March Motor Madness Tournament Champion by the time the clock reads 12:00 A.M. April 4th, they will need all hands on deck with the effort the Mini Wedges will likely bring after eliminating the 2025 defending champion.
