Doug Hanna started the Hanna Racing legacy many decades ago, and in his footsteps, son Charlie has plotted his own path of success for many years both locally and nationally.
Recognized by Goshen News as "The Greatest Local Talent of All Time," many speak of Charlie in legendary terms with numerous track championships in the Outlaw Late Models, but Charlie's career is still very much active as he adds to his legacy every year.
Charlie's dad is still active in the shop at 83 years old, so slowing down doesn't appear to be in any of the Hanna DNA. After years of Late Model racing, Charlie took on Street Stock racing over the last few years and has shown why he's one of the best racers around. Not only does his direct bloodline have a legacy in racing, but there's a whole family tree of racers from relatives all around who dominate the local and national racing scene.
In his Late Model days, Hanna and Rich Boal had many battles at South Bend with door-to-door action, and those battles have carried over into the Street Stock scene at New Paris. And, for the first time in at least a decade, Hanna took on the challenge of Kalamazoo at Super Shoe and finished a strong weekend in the B-Feature.
As The Toad's legacy builds even more, fans can still take in all of the greatness Charlie offers on the track well into his career. He's a fierce competitor on the track, an incredible mentor to his daughter Saige and fellow family members, and has a legion of loyal fans ready to see Hanna chase down his next checkered flag.
He's one of the GOATS. He is The Toad, Charlie Hanna.
