Balancing life in general and racing can be difficult for many. The need to work in the garage night after night to prepare for the next race takes a level of commitment and time that often leads to long nights in the garage.

For Gunner Gale, not only is he balancing his every day life as a high school student with racing, he has his own athletic career to dedicate time to where he's grown as a top athlete for Paw Paw in football and wrestling.

Gale started his big car racing career in 2022 at Kalamazoo in the Front Wheel Drives, and he found some success early with quality finishes to build on. Then, in 2023, he was able to take the building blocks from his rookie year as he claimed his first career feature victory on June 30th after several strong runs earlier in the season.

As Gale grew into racing, he went from his first car purchased in 2022 to faster and more efficient cars where he could compete weekly with the front of the field. Although Gale didn't park in Victory Lane at Kalamazoo in 2024, he always found himself in contention with six Top 5s and 12 Top 10s out of 14 opportunities. The growth and consistency Gale has shown has also come at a time his athletic career for Paw Paw has taken off.

Paw Paw wrestling has grown into a highly competitive program in Southwest Michigan, and Gale has been a part of that foundation with his regional qualification being a highlight from the 2025-2026 season after he played for a playoff football team in the fall. As his sports resume builds, he's found balance to compete on the track at a high level which included his first feature win since 2023 on May 23rd. He followed that up with other great runs on July 18th and August 1st.

Gale has more than earned the nickname "The Master of Touchdowns, Takedowns, and Pin Falls," and he's shown that competitive drive on the track too even as he has to manage his time and energy across multiple responsibilities. Even with a full plate, the bar for success has not been lowered--it's only been raised.
