Tyler McGhan
𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩
For long time fans, McGhan Motorsports has left a mighty impression with their efforts on the track. One of the lead races from the team is Tyler McGhan, a former champion at multiple tracks. However, over the last few years, McGhan has found himself behind the scenes even though in doing so, he's still very much in front of everyone's eyes.
Admittedly, McGhan misses being behind the wheel, and he's never been shy to say so. Racing is in his blood, and he's darn good at what he does behind the wheel. However, he's become one of the top head starters around the region and has found himself above the race surface at places like Hartford, Kalamazoo, Galesburg, and Owosso. In fact, for most of the 2024 season, McGhan was the head starter at both Kalamazoo and Galesburg and somehow found time to squeeze in other tracks in his packed schedule.
The 2025 season was going to be a year of transition as several faces came over from Springport with Donnie Ritter. McGhan's role was going to change, but then everything changed a few weeks later. McGhan found himself back on the flagstand high above Kalamazoo, and he later received a call from Owosso to fill in for them after their head starter was injured.
Owosso owner Rex Wheeler publicly complimented and thanked McGhan after his first appearance during one of Owosso's Facebook Trackside Chats, and Wheeler was impressed with what he saw. McGhan finished the season at Owosso and filled in at other spots along the way with the National Compact Touring Series and Midwest Compacts.
Where racing is still king, McGhan, and his father Dale, spearhead the Night of Destruction scene at several area tracks where the provide thousands of dollars worth of equipment for racers to use. They also provide many of the items for Kevin Mann and his bar-setting stunts that have wowed fans over the last few years.
When McGhan isn't waving flags or preparing for the next Night of Destruction, he can still be found working on cars and helping other drivers out of the McGhan Motorsports racing stable.
