March Motor Madness Championship Preview
On Thursday, April 2nd, the road to the 2026 March Motor Madness Tournament Championship enters its final phase as the #1 seed MCR Dwarf Cars and the #3 seed Mini Wedges battle for two days. Voting for the championship ends on Friday, April 3rd, at 11:59 P.M.
Both the MCR Dwarf Cars and Mini Wedges have been here before. This is the first trip for the Mini Wedges to the championship round for the first time since 2023 when they raced through the much smaller bracket on their way to the inaugural title as the Wild Card qualifier. Originally, Top Row Racing Media did not include kid classes in the tournament because some might suggest it’s unfair to have them go against the big cars while others argued they should be included. Ultimately, Top Row Racing Media left it to a vote for the Mini Wedges to earn their spot, and they made the most of it as they eliminated the #1 seed MCR Dwarf Cars by using the voting playbook the club perfected against them. The Mini Wedges beat the Todd Metz Jr. led Front Wheel Drives in the championship.
As the 7th seed in the expanded 2025 tournament as one was not held in 2024, the MCR Dwarf Cars made their way through the bracket on their way to the championship match against the #23 seed Quarter Midgets. Similar to the prior tournament, the Quarter Midgets rode a wave of momentum like the Mini Wedges before them and claimed the championship title. It was the second consecutive trip to the Final 4 for the MCR Dwarf Cars and first championship match.
Now in 2026, two of the most popular classes around, at least when it comes to the tournament, have made their way back to the championship. While the MCR Dwarf Cars coasted a bit through each match in this year’s expanded tournament, the Mini Wedges likewise found life a little easy until their Final 4 match on Monday against the defending 2025 tournament champion, the Quarter Midgets.
While a handful of votes allowed for several classes to advance through the tournament, the Mini Wedges needed nearly 200 votes to eliminate the defending champions. It wasn’t until the closing minutes that the Mini Wedges found enough cushion to advance. It was the closest vote the Mini Wedges experienced all tournament.
The MCR Dwarf Cars had a bit of a battle with the Street Stocks in their closest match, and now they will need everyone in their corner should they claim the title for the first time. The Mini Wedges showed on Monday how they can engage their supporters in a flash, and the two day format allows for some extra space to navigate the waters and rally the troops.
