The old saying of, "It's not how you start, but it's how you finish," is true for many things, and that can at times be a hard lesson to remember in the moment, especially for race car drivers. There is only so much a driver can control, and there's even more they can't. For Bug Schisler, who comes from a family with a strong racing tradition, he started and finished with a bang!
Well before other tracks in the area picked up on the Limited Late Model scene in 2024, New Paris Speedway offered the class for many years. Bug Schisler has been a consistent contender in the division, and he earned the 2022 season championship with seven wins. Son of legend Bobby Schisler, who has multiple championships in his successful racing career, Bug has shown Schisler racing isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
For the 2025 season, Bug came out of the gate with a win in the newly formed Trifecta Series which offered it's own points championship and season bonus at New Paris. The Cabin Fever Classic victory was only a launch point, but fans of Schisler only had a few races at the start of the season to see him in action. Life happens, things happen, and time away can always work to renew the return. In Bug's first three outings at New Paris, he locked in three Top 10s and two Top 5s with the Cabin Fever victory.
Finally, August arrived on the calendar, a busy time for New Paris and many other tracks, and the Bugmobile appeared. On one of the biggest nights of the year, Bug claimed the Limited Late Model Summer Sizzler victory which also gave him his second win in the Trifecta Series. In fact, The Sizzler victory was one of four straight wins where Bug's car was absolutely dominant in each race and only seemed to get faster as the season progressed forward.
Bug swept all three races in the Trifecta Series, and on championship night, the skies above opened not with confetti, but with a pouring rain that definitely didn't dampen the celebration in his successful 2025 season.
