Colby Geer

The engines on the track at the Kalamazoo Speedway certainly roar to life every Friday night, but there are many people behind the scenes who power Kalamazoo to life with many hours of preparation and planning each week and throughout the off-season.
Colby Geer is a face fans have likely seen--he drove the Pace Vehicle on many nights and helped assist with line-ups. Further behind the scenes, he steered much of the scoring programs Kalamazoo used and set-up the Press Deck for race control and the announcer. Beyond that, Geer had his hand in many of the things that ensured Kalamazoo had a top notch facility where much of his work may not be noticed by many without knowing where to look.
It is without question that Geer gave it everything he had every race night--even if that involved sprinting from the tower to the flag stand and back for whatever reason someone need something on one side of the track or the other. He managed multiple things at any given time, and there are likely few who know the track inside and out as well as Geer.
While his absence was noticed in 2025 on the staff side, that didn't stop him from being a fan at many tracks where he still supported short track racing. What many people likely don't know is that before CRA took center stage at Kalamazoo, the safety lights around the facility didn't work. Ritter and his team did everything they could, and after some further investigating, made a call to Geer to see if he could deliver a much needed part.
Bright and early, Geer was at Kalamazoo to bring to life the lights, and he later returned to Super Shoe to provide assistance as needed. He also helped light up the sky at the final Night of Destruction at Kalamazoo with his impressive fireworks display that had fans talking for days.
For a long time, Geer was one of the hardest working people at Kalamazoo, and while he enjoyed time as a fan in the stands, he picked up right where he left off. He doesn't seek a round of applause or a standing ovation---he simply works hard for the love of the sport.
