Liz Edwards

It is no secret that behind the scenes on any given race day is a host of people who work to bring the night alive just as it's true that it takes great sacrifices throughout the week between races to prepare for the next event.
Liz Edwards may be a name that doesn't pop off the page on race day because she's not in a race car, she's not holding a microphone, waving the flags, or directing traffic. But her work behind the scenes, at places like Springport under Donnie Ritter, and then on to Kalamazoo and Galesburg are equally important to the entire race program. Beyond her roles, she's a racer's wife who has dedicated time, effort, energy, and blood, sweat, and tears to short track racing.
That's what made her debut on the track at Kalamazoo Speedway, in the rowdy School Bus Race, exciting for many because she had her turn to be the super woman that she is by all definitions.
For Edwards, race day takes on many shapes from her role as a racer's wife to Billy Edwards to Pit management at Kalamazoo and scoring at Galesburg. As a wife, Edwards ensures everyone's fed and taken care of, that things are organized and ready to go, and then the back and forth of moving everyone between events. Yet, she does it with complete control even in an event where chaos can and does happen.
At Kalamazoo, under Ritter's regime, she took the upper pit gate where there is non-stop traffic moving between the pit area, main grandstands, and the Turn 2 grandstand. Then, she has to watch as people navigate from the infield pits to the upper pits. Many fans, racers, and owner Randy Ritchey commented on her strong work ethic. But, that's who Liz is---give her a task, and she's going to do it to her fullest ability.
In September, Liz was offered the opportunity to race in the School Bus Race at Kalamazoo, and despite the many nerves that came with it, Liz had her moment to shine and held her own in her racing debut with a smile on her face and her always "get 'er done" attitude.
Edwards is truly the definition of a Super Woman.
