JD Johnathon Dickson is not only a race car driver, but many fans might recognize his high energy and passion as he has taken on various roles at area tracks over the last several years.
From M-40 to New Paris and other tracks, JD has been on the mic and showed that he knows what to do when the opportunity presents itself. Whether itโs a huge race for the Outlaw Late Models or a barn burning Hornet Feature, JD can call a race with the best of them. In an area where there are so many great announcers from Scott Stine to Tony Eldridge, Jason Seltzer, Frank Gasko, and Bob Koorsen, JD has left his mark on the sport.
If heโs not in the announcerโs booth, fans might see him in the flagstand where heโs flagged at tracks like the New Paris Speedway. Also in an area where there are many legendary flaggers, similar to announcing, JD brings the energy and passion with great command of the stand. His attentive nature and awareness makes him a flagman to model after.
However, racing is also in his blood. Various things have kept JD off the track over the years, but any time heโs been able to make it to the track to race, heโs given it a go.
In the Street Stocks this year, gremlins appeared often and brought his nights to an ending he didnโt plan, but that didnโt dampen his spirits. His team got together, went to work, and did what they could the next time around.
At Super Shoe, where brought his Street Stock to play, his car fought back to the point he needed to change race suits after liquid shot all over him. He got back to the grind, got things fixed, but more gremlins appeared. Instead of being deflated, which would have been understandable, he joined the stands and watched the races and even found himself on the mic part of the time too.
JDโs passion and energy is infectious, and heโs one reason fans know theyโll have a great night at the track when heโs around.
