Jeremy Wortinger

The voice of a race program is perhaps one of the most important positions a track hires because that person, or team, ultimately becomes the mouth piece that connects fans to the action and experience of a race night.

Jeremy Wortinger has listened to many announcers as a fan, and he's absorbed and fine tuned what he's liked to develop one of the most unique styles that can be heard around the region.

In an area where there are so many famous voices that have presented the play-by-play and color commentary fans have heard, Wortinger brings a delicate balance between managing a program and providing entertainment during breaks in the action. Whether it's a Night of Destruction or a Saturday Night short track program, Wortinger delivers the goods from start to finish.

A Night of Destruction program offers Wortinger an opportunity to tap into his lighter side with many perfectly timed jokes that keeps fans engaged, and he naturally reacts to what he watches with the fans. For a short track program, he delivers the information needed, connects fans with the drivers they see, and manages the breaks between races with a reminder of key moments, highlights, and entertainment to keep the program transitioning from one moment to the next. Instead of being an unseen voice tucked away in a box, he's at ground level in the stands with the fans because he's one of them.

That's one of the most important ingredients which allows for Wortinger to stand out. While some sound systems do not allow for an announcer to leave the booth because of how they are set-up, Wortinger is mobile all night long from one end of the track to the other--which includes visits to the backstretch. New Paris' layout allows for fans to enjoy the action from the stands or their cars with seating from Turn 3 all the way around to the middle of the backstretch. Wortinger will sit with fans as he announces, interacts with them, and absorbs the moments just as they do. He's not above them--he's with them.

Like them, he's a fan with a passion for the sport.
