There are many people behind the scenes on a race night across the area, and sometimes fans have a chance to interact with them at a concession stand or ticket booth. For other positions, fans may not know who they are at all but their importance is as crucial for the success of a race night as any.

Taylor Haines loves racing, and he wants to do whatever he can to help keep it around for generations to come. Rather than sit in the stands and profess how he can do it better, Haines took action and went to work.

First, he started as a security guard, but his talents and desire to learn showed others that he could take on a larger role. This placed him in the pit area as a gate keeper where he helped to manage the pit entrance/exit. It's certainly not an easy task as it placed Haines within easy walking distance of anyone who was happy, or upset, about something that took place on the track. Yet, Haines never let any of that get to him.

Despite being involved in a serious track accident that he hardly remembers after the impact of a car into the pit gate sent him flying several feet away from where he and others stood, his passion is stronger than ever.

At Russell's M-40 Speedway, Haines wears many hats. He's helped to announce, flag, work the pit area, and assist with tech. Sometimes, he can be seen with Meghan as she chases down the next epic video or photo. One thing is true---if someone asks him to do something at the track, he'll likely jump into action and give it everything he has to do it well.

Although his commute to M-40 from Portage, Indiana can be long, it hasn't stopped him from helping the Russell Family in their mission to "Make Racing Great Again." With people like Haines on their staff, M-40 doesn't say a fancy slogan for clickbait and falls short. They live it every day and every event.

Haines is one of those ultimate workers to have around, and his passion and purpose in racing means he's making his mark and leaving a positive impact on short track racing one step at a time.
