Taylor Sexton

The old saying is the more things change, the more they stay the same. While the Sexton duo behind the wheel may have changed, the competitive stable of Sexton Motorsports continues on with Alex and Taylor taking the reins. For Taylor, as one of a few female racers in the region, her footprint as a driver and mentor has many around her watching her growth and leadership.

When the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club visited the Kalamazoo Speedway this season, Taylor received recognition from President John Jackson and the Board for her incredible contributions to racing which includes her mentorship of the West Michigan Mini Wedges which races at Berlin and Kalamazoo. Young racers from around the region have the opportunity to learn not only from legend Kenny Head, but they also learn from a Friday Night star in Taylor. That in itself is impactful for the future of the sport where more females are finding their way behind the wheel.

When she's not racing, Taylor has also taken on leadership roles beyond the Mini Wedge program. Over the last few years, Taylor has put on the headset for Drew Jach and his National Compact Touring Series and former Great Lakes Mini Wedges where she was the Race Director for various race events. It's certainly not an easy role to fill, but it's a role she stepped into and quickly took command of as if she had done it for years.

Make no mistake though---even as her footprint has expanded into various roles, she's a fierce competitor on the track in the Template Late Model class where she's often the only female competitor in the field. She's no pushover, and she's earned the respect from drivers because there's no quit in her. Taylor has led laps, factored into the finish of a race, and parked in Victory Lane. This year, she claimed eight Top 10s, three Top 5s, and finished seventh in points.

In an era where representation is at the forefront, especially for females who want to be in motorsports, Taylor Sexton has established herself as a leader on and off the track. That's the Sexton way.
